No News Again

It's Friday and we still haven't heard or received anything from our clinic. Surprisingly I'm ok with this. I think that I may be pushing too hard for things to happen and not trusting God enough to allow them to happen. You would think that after 13 years of waiting, wondering and hoping I'd be use to it by now. I have to say that it does get easier the longer you wait but it can still sting a little.

I'll wait until Monday before calling to see what's going on. I'm going to enjoy my weekend and not worry about it until then.

126 days until Disney!

No news

We are waiting on our clinic to see what our next step will be. I was hoping that we would have heard something by now but nothing yet. If we don't receive any news by Thursday I will call. I'm so ready to get this going.

On the work front, after last week things are so much better. It's be nice to come to work and not have to worry about some people making it miserable for others.

Disney is 130 days away!

What a week...

It's been one of the most difficult weeks I've had in a long time. I've had to go through some rough waters at work and had to make some difficult decisions along the way. It's never easy to let people go, especially in the economical times we're having but it had to be done. I made myself sick over these decisions and second guessed myself plenty but I can honestly say that it's what needed to be done. When I look at my job and the responsibilities that come with it, I have to do what is best for the children in our Center. As hard as it was, I have total peace with each decision. God is good!

Flipping the page to embryo adoption, I wasn't sure if being put on the glycophage would cause a road bump in our process. I haven't heard from our coordinator this week and was curious as to where we were in the process. I get the feeling that she's out of the office. But I did get to talk to one of the nurses and asked if being on the meds would affect moving on with our cycle. She told me that it wouldn't! So I feel much better after talking with her! Hopefully we'll hear something the beginning of next week about moving ahead in the process.

134 days and counting until we leave for Disney!

Welcome January ICLW

A big welcome to all ICLWers and newbies viewing my blog. My name is Stacy. Me and my husband have been dealing with male factor infertility for about 13 years. We started the process to adopt in January of 2007. We've been waiting to "get the call" since June of 2007. We currently have felt that domestic adoption is not the route for us to travel and we've chosen to do embryo adoption. You'll notice my timeline next to this post!
Glad you've joined me on the journey!

Disney is Booked!

I'm super excited that I booked our Disney vacation on Friday! It's getting closer and closer. The only thing that stinks is that I "might" be pregnant when we go and will get to miss several of the rides. However, if I am pregnant when we go I'll be ok with not getting to ride some of the rides!

I had to start Metformin on Saturday. My blood results came back and my isulin was 21.5. They like it to be under 15. Let me tell you that Met is not fun. I was up several times during the night because of the med. Last night was better but I have to say that I don't have much of an appetite because of the medicine. That could be a good thing for me!

I have to wait six weeks and have it tested again. I'm not sure if this puts a kink in my schedule for the FET and I'm praying it doesn't!

SIS is done

I had my SIS (saline infusion sonogram) today! Not the most comfortable thing to have done but what is comfortable when when it comes to infertility. She told me that the lining of my uterus looked great! I take that as a positive and pray that when those embies are transferred they snuggle in real tight.

They also did a good bit of bloodwork. It's been a while since I had my physical and they are doing the bloodwork for all of that too! I have to go back in the morning for a couple of blood test that require me to fast past midnight! I'm doing all that I can to move this process along.

She also told me that they'll do my pap smear just as soon as the day passes when I had mine last year. That's all for insurance purposes. I've got to look that info up as well so I can schedule it soon!

I also put our profile acceptance letter in the mail today! Hopefully they'll get it either tomorrow or Saturday. Once they do, they'll send me a calendar of events that I'll have to do to get us to the point of transfer. I did ask the satellite office today if they'll monitor me and she said yes for nine weeks after the transfer. She also told me that I'd probably have to do the PIO shots for a while too! Can I get an OUCH??

Things continue to move quickly and rather smoothly! I'm looking for that bump in the road to happen any time!

Profiles are Here

We received the profiles in the mail yesterday. It's been overwhelming to me to look at them and try to decide what we want to do. We've been told that we need to either accept them all or decline them all. We do get to put them in the order of preference that we'd like but even making that decision is hard. We aren't given a whole lot of information on the parents which makes the decision even more difficult.

We have until the 21st to decide and return the information. I so pray that we make the right decision for us. The fear of the unknown is really haunting me right now. I keep telling myself I've got to give it to God and let go but that's easier said than done.

Praying God would show us the way to go!

HSG is done

I have to tell you that I was a little nervous when I woke up this morning. When we first found out we had infertility issues, I didn't have many tests done before we found out that Chad has severe male factor issues. So all these tests are new to me. I have to constantly look things up just to make sure what's gonna happen to me. And that's the cause of my nervousness. I've read numerous accounts of what this test entails but you just don't know what to expect until you've experienced it.

I went to work for a few hours before we had to travel to Birmingham for the test. I ate a light lunch just because I wasn't sure if my nerves would allow me to eat alot with having to travel to the bathroom.:) We arrive at outpatient services and you wouldn't believe the line. It was crazy. I check in and begin the wait. They eventually call me back to take care of the paperwork and the money! (Not ready to write that check but God is good to provide it!) I go back to wait and not long they call me back.

I'm instructed to take off my clothing from the waist down and put on a robe. Then I suppose to wrap a sheet around me, so no one gets mooned! As I'm sitting there waiting to be taken back, there is another lady getting ready to have the same test done. Once she gets undressed, she sits in the waiting area with me and wants to talk. My nerves just can't handle any conversation right now but I'm polite and talk to her.

They eventually move into the testing room and now we're just waiting for the doctor to arrive. The technician calls to see where the doctor is cause she says it's starting to back up out there. 15 minutes or so, he finally makes it to the room. I've read other accounts that have said it was uncomfortable all the way to it hurting so I'm just not sure what to expect. I have to say that the pain from the speculum hurt me more than anything else. Guiding in the catheter nor inserting the dye wasn't bad at all.

Once the speculum is removed they place the x-ray machine over me and take a picture. Looks pretty cool on the screen. The good thing about the HSG is that you get your results immediately. My tubes are clear and my uterus looks good too!

I've had some mild cramping but nothing I can't handle. First step done. Onto the next step which is on Thursday!

Can't wait to see if the profiles arrived in the mail today!

Off to a quick start

So I'm sitting at work yesterday when my cell phone rings. I don't recognize the number but answered it anyway. It was our embryo clinic's coordinator calling to tell me that she hadn't forgot about me. My heart almost stopped right then. She wanted to go over the profiles that she's sending us to look over. She is sending them today! I got chills all over just talking to her!

I have to have a HSG and a SIS. For those of you not familiar with those terms, neither am I. I know that the HSG checks my tubes to see if they are clear and the SIS is a saline ultrasound. The HSG is scheduled for Monday the 11th at 1:15 and the SIS is scheduled for Thursday the 14th. I will have to travel for the HSG and get to do the SIS locally.

I've also got to get some paperwork sent in to them from my ob/gyn and primary physcian. If I can get all that done by the beginning of February we could see a transfer as soon as March! If it's successful that would be a Christmas baby!

Lord have mercy! My head is spinning with all of this! Things have picked up speed and are moving right along!
